Here are 10 ways that
you can help wild birds.

1.   Never chase or frighten birds.
2.   Stay quiet and still when you are around them, so that you won't disturb them.
      Then you can watch them go about their daily business and listen to them sing.
3.   Put bird seed out - especially in the winter when it is harder for wild birds to
      find food. Put it in a high open spot, where cats cannot be hiding nearby.
4.   Build a bird house. Check your local library or Internet for bird house designs.
5.   Put a birdbath outdoors in a spot that is safe from cats. Then be sure to keep it
      clean.
6.   If you have cats that go outside, put a little bell on each of their collars to
      warn the birds that they are around.
7.   If you ever find a baby bird who is all alone, don't touch it. Leave it where it is
      and watch it from a distance to see if the mother bird is waiting until it is safe
      to return to her baby. If no mother arrives, or if the baby is in danger, then
      quietly take it home - it needs you.
8.   Then contact a humane society that can take care of the baby bird or show
      you how  to care for it. When the little bird is able to care for itself, set it free
      in a safe place.
9.   Help protect all birds by joining a local or international organization that works
      to protect birds, animals or the environment.
10. Remember that it is an honor to be able to have wild birds living free around
       us and to be able to enjoy how beautiful they are and to listen to their pretty
       songs. Please respect them and never harm them.
